MEIN LEIBLING .....2

Now for Mein Mein Leibling as they say she will be put into my new gallery/Musuem and she will be for sale as the rest I am working on. I have looked all over the countryside and am perturbed there is no place to look at dolls from the past made in their glory. I  remember when I was young and that was years ago now there were collections all over to meet whatever you desired. Now with the modern life wow..... They are sold by the thousands but I have never seen a beautiful display not even the Antique ones. I have been so saddened by people when they clean out an estate they just throw them in the skip bins...wow I call that murder.....a society that has disappeared!

So instead of competing with this Textile Art and the art of today I am going to go back to what I once saw and restore the beauty of time, I believe in beautiful workmanship Art than will always be in time and never, never forgotten....

Now I begin My MEIN LEIBLING from the Company of Krammer and Reinhardt in the early 1900's producing character dolls or children. I was born in Hamburg Germany and we migrated here I so wanted one but my mum said she had them back in Germany hoping her sister would send them but sadly not she sold them to my mum's heartbreak. That's how I began my journey with dolls of the past and even Art Dolls creating them myself the way they were and even creating my own!  I didn't like my mothers sewing she made me dresses that didn't fit properly and the kids laughed at me, so too I started sewing and creating...... so let the journey begin... I also do have orginals... But first....
She is very authentic I copied her from an original..she  also has sleep eyes...that open and shutd, her head is porcelain. She has many firings to get her  accurate and the fine lines of her eyebrows. Body is composition and I have thickened up with other compositions her weak parts the head socket, arm sockets and so on. Her eyes are hollow glass  eyes which I have made them into sleep eyes, with eyelashes to keep them open and closed...  Her  hair is mohair side parted...short like a German child like my daughters when they were young...and their sweet chubby chops features the Germans have like when I was little.... people say you come from a European country.... You can see why I am so blown away with this doll, I have a lot of French dolls too but first I shall do the German I haven't seen a display of many of the German dolls, mostly French....which I love too and some of the early modern dolls ..... the modern, modern I leave to my grandchildren to collect I think this will keep me busy enough..... so I begin... keep tuned.....

MEIN LEIBLING CONTINUED....

I am working on her petticoat cannot do a wasted type it would have to be three quarter or I cannot fit her dress she already has to the waist.... She had her own shoes and socks and hat...I Just embellished them and the stand to clean it all up and make her look appealing as I could.

MEIN LEIBLING

Working on a client's doll she received as a present from a friend and asked me to finish dressing it......
Here she is as you can see the body is not the right size her head does not fit into the neck socket, her eyebrows are too high but still she can look rather sweet, she wouldn't be authentic but she still is a sweet doll you can dress and admire...beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and the Germans made dolls for the Toy Market not for fashions like the French....In the next pic her finger was broken so I put a piece of wire into it and created a finger this was roughly made and then sanded back to match the rest..her lower arms the paint crackled it was fine I just sanded it and matched it all up including the ball joints.  She had to be restrung elastic just doesn't wear years and years of hard weathering...                                                                                  e

NEW PROJECT

I am dressing dolls that I believe if the person likes them to add a value! I find that in the way they were given to me there is very little value and in todays market there are so many different opinions. With the Internet today you can reach many more opinions to see if people agree or disagree... I never liked Antique dolls or dolls of the past especially if they were really preloved and looked very tired, some dirty and some not appealing!  Yet to the owners they were precious memories of the past they had. That to me is the definition of collectables... Why do people want to collect? I know from the past I walked into homes and sometimes I just couldn't take my eyes off some of the collectables...they intrigued, fascinated me...WHY? To-day I go visiting to many places and find that there is not much of the past very little indeed?  Where have these fascinating gorgeous things I have seen in the past gone?  I see modern things that I have no fascination or find that the saying Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder?  What beholder? seems more evident they disappear quicker and others have taken place sometimes appealing and sometimes I have no answer whatsoever???  I don't know so I will do things I see in my mind and with technology of today I will find the answers right where I am sitting typing this!
Here are the dolls the first on the left is My Doll and the far on the right is the same doll I will do up as I do mine. Her name is Mein Leibling she is a German K*R 117 . I will show the difference in the real Authenticity but then a modern point of view and love for them maybe like a coin collection a difference of value. Then the dark haired doll ceramic head and hands, with a cloth body, and a modern Asian made pretty little dolly.... not forgotten.I will try to make her as pleasing as I possibly can to me it's a form of Art not a play thing.. resembling the human form made by humans to enjoy!

EASTER COMING FAST

How the year has flown by so fast nearly Easter cannot believe it, have been busy trying to do the mother thing and help with the grandies as much as I can... I came home with a real dose of the gastic virus which has slowed me down or should I say I lost a week of catching up my work???  I am working on a Wedding quilt for my youngest who is getting married in August and having a baby Boy .... I used to winge about having a boy and now they have taken over so as to say.... how cute!
Anyways I will upload the wedding quilt which I chose to be plain and in blue (I wonder why made the decision before I knew) also blue is a pleasant colour so I  thought for a bedroom and I wanted to pursue the quilt in the hoop technique ....with my new Pfaff Creative sensation...
The Block which is cut 1/2" all around shows the main design and if you look at it you can see it is all done in the hoop. I like it plain and simple especially if is for a gift. The little flower pattern in the corners I chose cause I saw her put on a dress to see what she was going to wear going out!  I love the simple quilting in the background which I did with a soft blue embroidery thread not to overpower the whole quilt .... I have to do 122 of these blocks  then 22 of the border ones...........that's a lot of sewing!

These are how the blocks will form the whole pattern of the quilt when it is all finished.......
