Went to a local market to show off more winter gear was a very blowy, cold windy day on the top car park at Park Beach Plaza at Coffs Harbour. Not many stallholders or people came up was more warmer down in the carpark sheltered by the buildings and trees... I learnt something quite interesting people who endured cancer treatments and lost their hair found this type of hat very interesting giving me more ideas on hats to be different. Wearing wigs was very uncomfortable but these hats were very smart and comfortable. I will create more with a wig look about them. It gives me great pleasure to create things that bring great comfort and make people look good as well.... the scarf is like a collar and very soft around your neck it has acrylic and wool blend. The embellishments are of course acrylic giving it a more sharper look....and of course the fingerless mitts just enough to keep you warm and you can do write on paper, feel what your touch and still be warm those very cold days especially in the early mornings and late evenings when the coolness creeps ....They look cool on and you can wear it however you wish. The hat has a long section like a ponytail with a tassel and don't forget the ear flaps you can even put a button on or order it with buttons on.... how cool is that for that cold weather and when you party inside you can wear it how you like...
I had to fix up an old doll
German Doll it had a star sign at the back... Horror story it is! I brought it home it was in a garbage bag she had nothing else to put it in.. took it down to the Barn where I had my German books to identify the markings.. I put it in the corner on the floor under the table thinking it was safe and went the next day to Sydney to do a show. When I got home she rang me to ask if I started the doll, I had forgotten with many other things to do!! Days went by looking every niche and rooms everywhere nowhere till hubby picked up a garbage bag from the floor as he cleaned the barn.

I FROZE there was she was in pieces the head that is .... the head was poured in paper mache instead of porcelain, which was strange and very thin. I just didn't do anything I was just so ill, so many tiny pieces. People just looked at me and told me to give her back. I just couldn't do that! It took me months of patching up with PVA glue and toilet paper would you believe. The whole of the front face was in pieces, the back of the head was held on with the wig which was so matted and glued to it.

When I got the head together with the air dried clay I then pulled the wig at the back off and glued it together which I already had glued together to hold the front while I was glueing it together. It came together so cracked up but in at least it was together I had to put a layer of the paper clay over the head to hold it together, so I could sand it smooth for painting...

well finally together with air drying paper clay smoothed over, sandpapered then rubbed and rubbed to get it smooth. Hours and days of work... not smooth do it again and again. Also painting over it with a wet brush making sure there are no bumps .

Nearly smooth still a couple of bumps showing so a lot of rubbing with a cloth and glass smooth sandpaper,

Final result I put a hat on here to protect her matted hair, do not wish to touch her anymore after that dreadful experience but she's so smooth eye lashes and eyebrows done, and the lips a quieter red so as not to show any descrepancies. Her right leg was in pieces it was with paper clay after putting the pieces of leg together a lot was missing so had to sculpt it out too. The hat is silk 2 rows of smoking and a row edged with old lace.. it will hold the hair in place which I made a paper mache pate to give it a little height... If the doll was mine I would have made a wig and reset the style. I put red flowers on the shoes to embellish I did have her on a wooden stand and a cellophane protective box over it to keep it from any deterioration but the lady did not wish to have that...She wanted it to sit in a chair in her loungeroom... Maybe the previous breaks on it had a lot to do with what I had to endure??

At least the final story SHE'S ALIVE AND WILL DO A NUMBER OF YEARS MORE! I couldn't charge the lady for the misfortune and she didn't want to pay much for the leg break which was why she came to me. At least I learned a lot from this experience.....Broken WORSE than my post on OLD AND NEGLECTED. She wasn't neglected just a dreadful accident that she fell on her face!! Well now not a sign scratch or graze? I just can't believe I did it!NATASCHAS DOLLShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09581824601549487581noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26152182.post-30978142784167906262017-12-15T18:18:00.000+11:002017-12-15T18:18:37.507+11:00FIXING UP THE OLD AND NEGLETED

I just can't get away from my Label the Dolly Lady. People bring me dolls and I have to resurrect them. I really do think of what to do. It may not be the very best but at least they are still alive to tell their story. They have to be looked after with Utter care or else they do die and so does the history of the past. What is the word ugly.... looking in the Dictionary of years ago it meant cute.... so what does it mean to many people today? When I look at how something was preloved and then handed down to their loved ones, people say oh my why don't you throw it out it's UGLY!

Well here are two dolls I thought resurrected. The mother gave it to her daughter who put it away, then one day going through the boxes she too gave it to her loved one. The loved ones child dropped it, making the mother feel guilty, she didn't want the older woman her mother seeing what happened to her beloved doll. The only doll she had every owned as a child.....I know my mum had a porcelain doll given to her in the late'20's when she was a child and when she played with it a neighbourly girl wreathed it from her arms and the poor thing went flying into the air and hit the ground hard....

I know my mum never got over it? I had only one doll given to me an English Pedigree, I called Mary I still have and my four daughters find her UGLY! That is why I love to do this kind of Artwork turn something UGLY into something Beautiful...

Natascha poured and fired this 25cm doll , crafting her shape very carefully along with meticulously painting the body and face to create a very collectable item.
To dress the doll Natascha chose crochetted pantaloons and cotton petticoat with lace trim. The dress she crochetted in a dusty pink batiste cotton with a soft pink beret and shoes (with clay soles). The hair is fashioned from mohair dyed coffee brown along with crochetted socks. As an added artistic touch Natascha hand felted a bear to finish the works.
NATASCHAS DOLLShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09581824601549487581noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26152182.post-46948984729624848242017-04-09T14:05:00.001+10:002017-04-09T14:05:49.263+10:00Doll Repairs Itallian Vintage DollAs part of our services we carry out DOLL REPAIRS. A recent request to repair and dress a vintage plastic doll was an interesting task which we would like to share with you.
This doll was a post war "Italian" plastic in reasonable condition. We started by stripping the doll and restringing it to enable movement and strength to display quality clothing.
Her hair was intact but needed cleaning and resetting with curlers which when released gave a nice kink to the hair as well as allow her new hat to sit nocely on her head. The doll was cleaned and paint touch up as required to smooth the appearance of the doll.
Dressing than began . We designed suitable underware with flaied petticoat to allow the dress to flow outward. The client chose a base colour od pink which we took liberty to emphasise the colours to make a statement and create a greater value to the doll. Good quality cotton fabric was used (as for quilts we do) in a design by Nataschas Dolls just for this doll (one of a kind). The design we used was a reflection on styles of the past to capture the era of the dolls age.
The hat was styled in a peasant bonnet style made specially for this doll so as to fit the hair and face.
Finally the doll had her face painted in an emphasis mode to give character and accentuate the European era.
We believe we have added considerable value to this doll, we may be viewed on Curiozityshop.com.au
I had a lot of trouble finding my Blogger, oooh the thought of losing it made me realise how important a Blogger can be and for me to work on it.

2016 had been a tough year indeed. Actually a mother's nightmare but that is another story at least I can sort my creativities out and build a business that I enjoy and have been given a gift so that I can I suppose we cannot have everything perfect in this life. It certainly is a challenge though... I still miss my little Belle at least I did experience a love of a creature my second daughter didn't want and her mate Brucie who died earlier in May so suddenly but she just wouldn't go she loved us so... she gave us the love that my daughter could never show or give....this little creature gave it all.....

It still beaks my heart how the last days she lost all her fur, so painfully thin but she still wanted to be near us, when we warmed up the food her head popped up and she got up waiting, she was blind but she still enjoyed it, even sucking on chicken bones till the last weekend before we came down to the farm she had, had enough and we knew.................... God rest her little soul how strong and loving such a creature of God was to make our lives so worthwhile, such a loss, we have had many dogs, many even Brucie we loved them all but this creature was so damn special yet the day I first saw her I thought my daughter mad to buy this stupid little yappy creatures, little did I know they would tug at heart strings so...... REST IN PEACE sweet Belle I always used to sing to her RING MY BELLE? Even when she was so sick, and when she had the pancreatic attack in Jan, she was on tubes and such in the Vet Hospital ...she fought so hard for her life to live another 11 months........she rang our Bell.....

Still have learnt a few things up here on the Sunshine Coast. I go for a drive to look at what's cooking here on the coast. I keep thinking things are just not the same anymore? I like Xmas to have the look of Xmas I have all my Vintage decorations and stuff back at the Barn... I have sat down and made table settings all starting with a humble coaster ... I am not happy with the fabrics they have sold this year so I have used my old stash and kept it as simple as possible to begin with. I have not much room but at least here are some of the things I have done ready to sell,

In this pic I have a large runner with whimsical Xmas Icons rather cute, six placemats to match with pockets which have your eating utensils, coasters to match and two oven gloves to match too, plain square ones. A whimsical angel to match have sitting nearby.. There are other coasters as well that you twist your wine glass into so when you have had too much you do not make a mess.

More Whimsey Angels

I have started late I couldn't find a market or fair anywhere to display what I had done. I did join a group but you had to do what they wanted you to do. I work independently creating my own ideas. I love Xmas I guess going back to my childhood.... Please let me know if you are interested in any of the Xmas items they are for sale.......Or if you want to have a setting made it's very hard at the moment to show off the settings in their right order... I have moved so far away but soon I will be back to the Barn but at least I have made a start.....Xmas is a wonderful time ... Most of the stuff is easy to send or can be picked up.....NATASCHAS DOLLShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09581824601549487581noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26152182.post-27040303462838255222016-08-19T17:23:00.001+10:002016-08-19T17:23:19.978+10:00CHANGESBeen in queensland now for two years it's a lovely place to visit but not my lifestyle at this stage to live. Must admit I have learnt so much, not good putting things down and giving up, no I am getting ready to go back and do things much better. I love excitement in my life and moving forward, don't want to give it up and rest, go travelling and just laying around. No I am going to create life into an interesting tale.... Have been busy in perfecting my game, looking around at the creative or craft scene up here even the creative business made me go through all my things and even the website and such it all needs a lot of improvement ... so!

I made a quilt a certain size for a competition down south but when I received my pack I just wasn't happy. It just didn't do anything for me no Pizazz nothing, blimp. I wasn't going to do blocks of any kind the rules were you had to use the blocks with just a colour to make it interesting...

So here is the first stage of my quilt I did like a window design and put a couple of sillouette cats, then embroidered some butterflies, it needs more I thought I didn't make the competition deadline and I would love to do something to get rid of it.. This is the first stage of my thinking!!!

NATASCHAS DOLLShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09581824601549487581noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26152182.post-72210081291838302612015-12-19T20:38:00.001+11:002015-12-19T20:38:30.619+11:00MEIN LEIBLING .....2Now for Mein Mein Leibling as they say she will be put into my new gallery/Musuem and she will be for sale as the rest I am working on. I have looked all over the countryside and am perturbed there is no place to look at dolls from the past made in their glory. I remember when I was young and that was years ago now there were collections all over to meet whatever you desired. Now with the modern life wow..... They are sold by the thousands but I have never seen a beautiful display not even the Antique ones. I have been so saddened by people when they clean out an estate they just throw them in the skip bins...wow I call that murder.....a society that has disappeared!

So instead of competing with this Textile Art and the art of today I am going to go back to what I once saw and restore the beauty of time, I believe in beautiful workmanship Art than will always be in time and never, never forgotten....

Now I begin My MEIN LEIBLING from the Company of Krammer and Reinhardt in the early 1900's producing character dolls or children. I was born in Hamburg Germany and we migrated here I so wanted one but my mum said she had them back in Germany hoping her sister would send them but sadly not she sold them to my mum's heartbreak. That's how I began my journey with dolls of the past and even Art Dolls creating them myself the way they were and even creating my own! I didn't like my mothers sewing she made me dresses that didn't fit properly and the kids laughed at me, so too I started sewing and creating...... so let the journey begin... I also do have orginals... But first....
She has many firings to get her accurate and the fine lines of her eyebrows. Body is composition and I have thickened up with other compositions her weak parts the head socket, arm sockets and so on. Her eyes are hollow glass eyes which I have made them into sleep eyes, with eyelashes to keep them open and closed... Her hair is mohair side parted...short like a German child like my daughters when they were young...and their sweet chubby chops features the Germans have like when I was little.... people say you come from a European country.... You can see why I am so blown away with this doll, I have a lot of French dolls too but first I shall do the German I haven't seen a display of many of the German dolls, mostly French....which I love too and some of the early modern dolls ..... the modern, modern I leave to my grandchildren to collect I think this will keep me busy enough..... so I begin... keep tuned.....

She had to be restrung elastic just doesn't wear years and years of hard weathering... e

I find that in the way they were given to me there is very little value and in todays market there are so many different opinions. With the Internet today you can reach many more opinions to see if people agree or disagree... I never liked Antique dolls or dolls of the past especially if they were really preloved and looked very tired, some dirty and some not appealing! Yet to the owners they were precious memories of the past they had. That to me is the definition of collectables... Why do people want to collect? I know from the past I walked into homes and sometimes I just couldn't take my eyes off some of the collectables...they intrigued, fascinated me...WHY? To-day I go visiting to many places and find that there is not much of the past very little indeed? Where have these fascinating gorgeous things I have seen in the past gone? I see modern things that I have no fascination or find that the saying Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder? What beholder? seems more evident they disappear quicker and others have taken place sometimes appealing and sometimes I have no answer whatsoever??? I don't know so I will do things I see in my mind and with technology of today I will find the answers right where I am sitting typing this!
I will show the difference in the real Authenticity but then a modern point of view and love for them maybe like a coin collection a difference of value. Then the dark haired doll ceramic head and hands, with a cloth body, and a modern Asian made pretty little dolly.... not forgotten.I will try to make her as pleasing as I possibly can to me it's a form of Art not a play thing.. resembling the human form made by humans to enjoy!
I came home with a real dose of the gastic virus which has slowed me down or should I say I lost a week of catching up my work??? I am working on a Wedding quilt for my youngest who is getting married in August and having a baby Boy .... I used to winge about having a boy and now they have taken over so as to say.... how cute!
Anyways I will upload the wedding quilt which I chose to be plain and in blue (I wonder why made the decision before I knew) also blue is a pleasant colour so I thought for a bedroom and I wanted to pursue the quilt in the hoop technique ....with my new Pfaff Creative sensation...

The Block which is cut 1/2" all around shows the main design and if you look at it you can see it is all done in the hoop. I like it plain and simple especially if is for a gift. The little flower pattern in the corners I chose cause I saw her put on a dress to see what she was going to wear going out! I love the simple quilting in the background which I did with a soft blue embroidery thread not to overpower the whole quilt .... I have to do 122 of these blocks then 22 of the border ones...........that's a lot of sewing!
My purple Charming Boudouir doll I undressed her fixed her up especially her hat she looks and sits very well .... now for my new head I am experimenting with I want more real look so I put a fine layer of clay sculpting her nose not the best but am learning I also gave her lips and painted her with a layer of gesso then painted her I drew in eyes and kept looking at her they were at first too small so I kept drawing and drawing till finally I can't draw no more and painted what I could this is the best result after months and months of drawing....now I will move on...NATASCHAS DOLLShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09581824601549487581noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26152182.post-38520132875846447922014-04-12T11:40:00.001+10:002014-04-12T11:40:54.454+10:00MY PACIFIC GEMSIt took me a while to finish this quilt ... Crafting has really deteriorated to my point of view, I love going to the shows what is the go but in reality what comes into my mind is that I can do that....I just have to find the techniques and I
find that my computer or the net is just an awesome tool, I don't like the games people play I love my own games of creating something quite extraordinary...... I don't want to do what people around me do I want to be different so how do I go about it.......I have talent so where do I start.....

I have fired the kiln back up going through the boxes of unfinished dolls and such even the dolls that are left behind, look so tired, so behind the times, they have no colour they just don't look right so on the net I go for ideas, there is nothing to look at around here and the petrol makes it unrealistic, so I set out and here are some new ideas....
My very first quilt. I would love to do it again but need more experience still. This will have to do. I would NOT recommend it to anyone for their first quilt! The story behind the quilt and watching the experienced gave me inspiration.NATASCHAS DOLLShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09581824601549487581noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26152182.post-51708820136284618192012-11-13T11:14:00.002+11:002012-11-13T11:14:52.260+11:00XMAS COUNTRY ANGEL

Have dressed a large Pedigree a walker, repainted her face taking away the faded white look of the early plastic, added to her real hair I don't believe in stripping off the wig if possible I like the doll when she first came out of the factory, most didn't have clothing on them they were the cheaper dolls, I still remember dressing my doll Mary........the only doll I had although this is not Mary..
Have been dressing more dolls this time a Celluloid large doll fixed it up and repainted the doll then sprayed with a paint fix to preserve it. Noticed that the early form of plastic (celluloid) is slowly breaking down so a covering makes it much stronger and wear the time longer........This is a very popular baby doll and the size of a baby that they used to put baby clothing on. I have put on her/him a real christening outfit to pose like they did many many years ago in department stores......like Anthony Hordens, Mark Foyes but this dress is in today's modern fashion and the OLD WORLD creating a new fashion simple and elegant.....you don't need to iron it just wash it and when dry put it back on....You can use the outfit for a SPECIAL CHRISTENING ocasion fitting a baby from 0-6months.......NATASCHAS DOLLShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09581824601549487581noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26152182.post-72923172454015402122012-10-31T17:10:00.003+11:002012-10-31T17:10:41.921+11:00SUGAR BRITCHES ALL DRESSED

At first the design was boring just with the panel on the front and some lace I found a wide lace and looking on the heirlooms of the internet I stitched the lace on the yoke like Bat wings or a large frill catching it at the waste and tying it up with ribbon and letting the tails hang. It reminded me of a butterfly so I digitised a butterfly my first try handyed it and I sewed it onto the front yoke to add colour and interest of the old world without spoiling too much of the cream. I stitched the same wide lace at the bottom of the dress making it very long and old world....She also has a petticoat, and hat to match the outfit and bootees to follow on order..
